Welcome. I’m James Reling, a psychotherapist in Oregon who specializes in working with adults through a neurodiversity-affirming lens. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges and discover what helps you thrive.
See my specialties below…
James Reling, LPC, SEP, CRC
I’m James Reling (he/him), a licensed professional counselor in Oregon, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. As a neurodivergent therapist, I’m passionate about creating a space where you can feel safe, truly heard, and supported. I welcome clients across neurotype, gender, and sexuality spectrums, and I celebrate diversity in all its forms.
We might be a good fit if you take pride in your quirks, passions, and unique way of moving through the world. My focus is supporting neurodivergent adults and people with disabilities as they heal the effects of trauma and find new ways to thrive. That might mean helping you unpack the impact of masking, learning calming practices to steady your body and mind, or releasing outdated beliefs and patterns in a space that invites curiosity and compassion.
My style is gentle, collaborative, and attuned. I work with you rather than at you. Therapy with me can take many forms: deep somatic trauma work to release what’s been held inside, practical tools to calm and regulate your body, or clarity through Autism and ADHD assessments. At the center of my work is helping you explore whatever is meaningful to you.

My Approach
I am committed to building a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. My practice is guided by the core values of safety, empowerment, sensitivity, adaptability, divergence, and interdependence, which help shape an affirming and supportive space for your healing.
I adapt mindfulness-based, body-centered therapy practices to support neurodivergent clients better, recognizing that traditional approaches do not always fit every nervous system. I also draw from cognitive neuroscience and Polyvagal theory to bring a clear, science-informed framework to our work together, helping you understand how your brain and body respond to stress, connection, and change. This integrative approach balances compassion with practical tools, creating conditions for growth that honor your uniqueness.
